You will form part of a multi-skilled, global team that works collaboratively alongside developers, product owners and business users to design a range of financial applications. Projects are highly varied and can range from specialised risk management applications for front-office staff to regulatory dashboards to specialised data visualisation applications.
Each UX projects varies in its approach depending on project needs but essentially follows the same stages, namely Discovery, Analysis, Design and Implementation. To cover this process, the principal roles in the team are UX Design (for User Research, Personas Analysis and Task Analysis) and Visual Design (Sketches, Wireframes/Prototypes and High resolution visual designs). For most projects you will be expected to cover all aspects of the design lifecycle. This means sitting with users and understanding their goals and workflows, potentially sketching/wireframing ideas with the users and finally, taking these ideas to full visual design to hand off to the UI development team. Any technical ability in CSS/HTML5 is an added bonus.
The Design team follow an Agile project methodology based around weekly Kanban board reviews and design backlogs.
Work with users, business stakeholders, product owners and technology teams to deeply understand customer needs and characteristics; business objectives and outcomes to be delivered.
Lead the scoping and execution of user research, testing and interviews to develop insights that shape the proposition, experience, interaction patterns and design decisions.
Create design concepts and prototypes of financial applications that explore and address user needs and incorporate new functionality into the service in terms of UI and the wider contextual experience.
Produce high resolution, responsive application designs using Sketch for hand-off to the UI development team for implementation
Work collaboratively with technology leads, business analysts, product owners and users from initial ideas through to development of final designs.
Ensuring that RFT Design Language, particularly interaction and experience patterns, are incorporated into new releases and contribute back into the Design Language where appropriate
Work closely with developers to ensure user experience intent (UI/UX) is translated into UI applications
- Qualification in a Design or Multimedia discipline such as Graphic, Interaction, Product, Industrial and/or Digital Design.
- Portfolio of work
- Experience of designing applications particularly HTML5 single-page web applications or in dashboard applications
- A good understanding of the end-to-end design and user-experience process with a broad spectrum of hands-on skills including user interviews, storyboarding, facilitating workshops, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing.
- Fluent in relevant design tools such as, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience of designing interactivity
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience of working in a Financial organisation or awareness of financial concepts
- Experience of working with visualisation of numeric or financial data
- Experience of conducting usability testing
- Familiarity with Agile as a project approach
